Astrid Torres
Coach
Astrid Torres is a lifelong racket-sport player with a passion for helping players develop their skills and confidence on the pickleball court. She began playing tennis at age 11 under the influence of her father, a tennis coach, and has continued to build her expertise across multiple racket sports.
Astrid discovered pickleball in 2023 and quickly embraced the sport’s unique combination of athleticism, strategy, and competition. She currently holds a 4.3 DUPR rating, is ranked among the Top 20 women’s pickleball players in Puerto Rico, and actively competes in local pickleball tournaments, where she regularly earns podium finishes. She is also the defending champion of the 4.5 Women’s Doubles division at the PPA World Championships in Dallas, a title she earned in November 2025.
Her experience extends well beyond pickleball. Astrid is an enthusiastic racket-sport competitor and has taken home wins in her office ping-pong tournaments. When visiting Puerto Rico, she also enjoys playing beach tennis, adding yet another dimension to her experience with racket sports and movement on the court.
After taking time away from pickleball to recover from shoulder surgery following a padel injury in October 2024, Astrid found creative ways to stay connected to the game—including playing left-handed while recovering. Her determination and adaptability allowed her to continue developing her understanding of the sport even while she was unable to play normally.
As a bilingual coach, Astrid works with players from beginner through advanced levels, emphasizing solid fundamentals, smart shot selection, court positioning, and strategy. She enjoys helping players understand not only how to execute a shot, but when and why to use it—building skills that translate into greater consistency, confidence, and success during play. Her ability to coach in both English and Spanishallows her to connect with and support a wider range of players.
Away from the court, Astrid enjoys baking, drumming, and archery.
